Green Day - Know Your Enemy (Music Video Cover)

Our task was to create a short sequence for a music video based around a brief scenario. The scenario our group chose was enemies meet, as well as a relationship has ended. The first step in creating our music videos was to write up a storyboard of approximately eight shots; we had to include a close up, wide shot, establishing shot, pan and zoom. Once we were somewhat happy with our storyboard, we went out around the college and shot our scenes, which went relatively easy. We then finished filming and went back to class, uploaded our clips and saved them.

A couple days later we had to decide on a song we wanted to go with our music video, which was actually harder than expected. I chose the song 'Know Your Enemy' by Green Day as it was a clear demonstration within the lyrics of knowing who your enemy is, which in turn fitted our storyline quite well in my opinion. Also as it is a rock song, during the fight scene of the music video it really creates a tense atmosphere. Now that I had chose my song, I went onto editing. Originally I was going to use iMovie, however due to technical problems it didn't work so well, so I moved onto a more familiar platform called Adobe Premiere Pro. I imported my clips, cut them up to my liking, fit them into a timeline and then put the music over it. Once the music was added I went back in and played around with the clips so that they fit the beat of the song well, so for example when they walk, they're walking in time with the song. Lastly I added a fade at the start and end and a black and white filter at the end help fit the mood.

Since I was happy with my piece of work, I saved, exported and uploaded it to YouTube. Although I think that my outcome was decent considering the time and materials we had, I would have done a lot more things differently, such as thinking up a more solid storyboard that we would follow efficiently so that when editing I wasn't struggling with the sequence of the clips.
