Finished Radio Advert

Previously we recorded a radio advert using the programme 'Reaper', as a group we decided to advertise Reading Festival 2015. Today, our task was to take our plain audio and edit it into a completed advert. Firstly, I opened our audio in Reaper, then I added two new tracks, adding in background music of Arctic Monkeys previously performing at the festival, as well as adding a crowd sound effect. Next I went in and cut up our audio, getting rid of any silences or mistakes. Then I did the same for the song, cropping certain pieces so that it wasn't too long. Then I arranged all the clips into the sequence I wanted, then adjusted the volume of the different tracks. For example, I obviously didn't want the song to be too loud and over play the advert itself. Once I was happy with how the advert sounded, I saved it and rendered it.

I think that my radio advert had a clear and effective style; it's simple yet factual. It tells the audience lots of facts about the product, therefore making it effective as it fits it purpose to advertise. Furthermore, the voiceover is effective is the recording of Jake's voice clear and there were no technical mistakes. I think our script was somewhat imaginative as it sounds exciting, informs the audience, and is quite straight forward. As well as this, I think the sound bed was decent; I chose to have a song by the Arctic Monkeys performing at a previous Reading festival, which was appropriate considering what we were advertising. However, I think it would have been more effective if I had more than one song playing, for example when Jake lists off other artists, I could have added a clip of those artists. But, due to technical difficulties with my laptop, it was hard for me to cut up the clips, let alone add more music, so I took what I could. Overall, our task was to advertise a product, so therefore our add had to be persuasive. I think ours was as we used a few techniques; for example the first thing said in the advert was 'Reading Festival 2015' making it very clear the to audience what we were selling. Also, we listed off facts, such as saying how many people went last year, making it seem like a popular event and if you don't attend you're really missing out. Our last sentence said was 'You don't want to miss out', therefore addressing the audiences' desires, making them feel persuaded to go as they don't want to 'miss out'. In conclusion, I think the advert worked very well, it met it purpose by using numerous, appropriate techniques, as well as aesthetically sounding cool.
